Craftsmanship process

Our Mission

Reviving scale and dignity to Bengali craft.

For generations, the master artisans of Bengal have possessed an unparalleled vocabulary in terracotta, textile, and painting. However, modern commercial constraints often relegate this rich heritage to small-scale souvenirs or static museum pieces.

Karigori was founded on a singular premise: traditional craft possesses the inherent structural integrity and aesthetic gravity required for contemporary architectural scale. We bridge the gap between rural artisan clusters and urban architectural projects, ensuring that traditional techniques are applied in modern, highly demanding contexts.

By functioning as both a design studio and an artisan collective, we guarantee both the authenticity of the process and the rigorous quality control demanded by leading architects, hospitality groups, and cultural institutions.

Rajdip Kundu

Founder and CTO

I am an Aerospace Engineering undergraduate at IIT Kharagpur, but my interests extend far beyond engineering with deep interest in core engineering principle and technology. I am deeply interested in entrepreneurship, business development, marketing, and building meaningful connections. I enjoy understanding people and markets, exploring ideas, and figuring out how they can be transformed into impactful opportunities. Through Karigori, I am exploring entrepreneurship at the intersection of traditional Indian craftsmanship and modern markets—working to bring authentic handicrafts, artisan stories, and local talent to a wider audience. Engineering has shaped my analytical and problem-solving mindset, while Karigori is helping me develop the entrepreneurial perspective to turn ideas into real-world impact.

Sweta Gupta

Co-Founder and CMO

I am Sweta Gupta , an Aerospace Engineering undergraduate at IIT Kharagpur who found myself increasingly drawn to the world outside the classroom—where ideas have to find people, conversations have to become opportunities, and businesses have to earn attention before they can earn customers. My interests lie in entrepreneurship, business development, social media, marketing, PR, and the people side of building a venture. I enjoy understanding markets, talking to people, collecting and connecting information, building relationships, and figuring out how an idea can be communicated in a way that makes people care. Through Karigori, I am exploring this side of entrepreneurship by working at the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modern markets—helping turn local stories, products, and talent into something that can find a much larger audience. Engineering has taught me to think systematically; entrepreneurship is teaching me to think beyond the system.

Co-Founder and COO

I am an Aerospace Engineering undergraduate at IIT Kharagpur with a strong interest in entrepreneurship, technology, and design. I am particularly interested in building solutions that bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern markets. Through Karigori, I aim to explore how technology, product innovation, and scalable business models can help local artisans expand beyond their existing reach, strengthen their livelihoods, and bring India’s rich craft heritage to a wider audience. My engineering background shapes the way I approach these challenges, i.e, with a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and turning ideas into scalable solutions.
